Frequently asked questions

Speed Dating

Does Speed Dating work?

Yes it does! We have had many success stories. Look at the testimonials. If you limit your expectations, come with a positive attitude and have a laugh, there is an 80% chance you will get a match. Speed Dating is a great way to meet 15+ fellow singles in one night. Mind you there is an element of luck, so if you don't meet the perfect one, try again! It will greatly improve your chances of making a match.

What do I wear ?

The key here is to dress to impress. In most people books that's smart casual. So for the people coming straight from work, speed daters or dinner daters in office wear is fine! Once you feel comfortable you will be more confident, which is always the key to a good date.

How long does the event last ?

We always aim to start on time. First we have a short registration at 7.15, Speed Dating itself begins at 7.30, and we aim to finish around 10.15. However, if you did not meet everyone, you have the opportunity to stay on and continue to chat to dates you may have missed.

How can I get the most out of Speed Dating?

Come ready to have a good social night out and try not to put too many expectations into it. This is a low risk way to meet real people for real conversation – where it leads to is up to you. I would also recommend that you tick the speed dating card. If you enjoyed talking to someone and are matched online, please have the courtesy to send them a message and be open to the opportunity of talking to them again, whether there is romance potential or not. Remember, you have only talked to this person for three tiny little minutes, if you are willing to blow someone off after such a short time, then more fool you. Don’t forget, single people have single friends. Your dream partner might be best mates with a friend you find at Speed Dating! Loosen up, get a match and go out for coffee. It may be a waste of thirty minutes of your life, it could be start of a friendship, or it could be more – what do you have to lose? Life is too short folks, live it. Have Fun!!

What sort of questions should I ask ?

The best advice is just to be yourself. The more natural the conversation, the better the ‘date’. If it makes you feel more comfortable, prepare a few questions to help get the conversation going. Make them a little more unusual for example ‘what was your greatest achievement outside of school?’ or ‘What was the best holiday you ever had and why?’ Remember, if after your date you still want to carry on, add them to your Speed Dating card.

What If I have another question?

No problem just drop me an email info@getout.ie, I'll do my best to answer it promptly.

What are the ages of most of the people?

Each Speed Dating event has a different age range, and there is a crossover of all ranges, so if you come to one event and people are too young, come to the next one to meet people your age. Please note, it is likely that you will talk to people that are outside the age group you may be looking for, but remember that the speed dating is about putting people together for a fun social night out, where everyone can enjoy the craic!

Do you do events for the 40s plus crowd?

At the moment we do a very limited number of events for the 40+ crowd. We will be teaming up with another organisation that runs social evenings for this group with a goal of offering a wider choice of events. Can I see a sample menu ?

We work really hard trying to find different Irish restaurants, which offer a wide variety of food. Please check out the link to each venue as you book your place for dinner dating! We go to extreme lengths to find great food combined with privacy!

What happens at a dinner dating event ?

It’s a lovely way to meet new people in a relaxed manner, and you get to enjoy a lovely meal and a glass or two of wine. Typically when you arrive you get assigned a table . Ladies, you stay at the one table for the whole meal. Guys you move table for each course. The unique thing about these Dinner Dating events is the fact that you get to dine and chat with a slightly larger group than our competitors offer. The chances are greatly improved when you get to meet more people.

What are the Dinner Dating restaurants like?

We carefully choose restaurants that have a superb reputation for food and service. We make sure you have as much privacy as possible and the GetOut.ie staff will stay with you during the course of the meal.

Adventure Days

What do I need to bring with me ?

Once you have booked, we will email you a full list of items needed for the day out a few days before the event. Sue's own advice would be make sure it is nothing you'd be broken hearted to never wear again.
